Home Sports Concordia Volleyball Continues Four-Game Winning Streak With Another Sweep

The Concordia volleyball team swept the Dordt University Defenders 3-0 Saturday evening in Sioux Center, Iowa. This was the fourth consecutive sweep for the Bulldogs.

 

The first set started off with Dordt leading and Concordia narrowly trailing. The Bulldogs quickly recovered and had a 12-4 run, leading to a nine-point difference against the Defenders at 16-9. Dordt started a comeback as the set went on and narrowly lost the set to Concordia 25-21.

 

The Bulldogs continued their dominance over the Defenders in the second and third sets. Concordia ran away with the sets leaving Dordt to scramble for whatever points they could achieve. The Bulldogs won both the second and third sets 25-17 and continued their winning streak.

 

Senior Camryn Opfer led the team in kills with 14. Sophomore Gabi Nordaker and junior Kalee Wiltfong rounded out the top three with 11 and 10 kills respectively. Junior Bree Burtwhistle led the team in assists with 46. Opfer led the team in digs with 15, and sophomore Rebecca Gebhardt closely trailed with 14 digs.

 

The team is now 14-1 overall and 5-1 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. Their next game is at home on Sept. 30 against Briar Cliff University at 7:30 p.m.
