Concordia defeated Mount Marty 3-0 in a pinked out Friedrich Arena as fans and players showed their support for Breast Cancer awareness month on Wednesday. The Bulldogs won the sets 25-16, 25-16, and 25-14.

Mount Marty struggled to find the floor with their shots in part to Concordia’s strong defense. Sophomore Rebecca Gebhardt was able to compile 16 digs against the Lancers.  Junior setter Bree Burtwistle finished the night with 34 assists. Burtwistle was the NAIA setter of the week (the week of October 20th).

Concordia’s success in their match against Mount Marty came on the heels of some new program history. In the coach’s poll that came out Wednesday Concordia volleyball received their highest rank ever ranking fifth in the nation.

Junior Camryn Opfer had a strong performance with 12 kills and six digs. Opfer spoke about the team’s success and how they’ve reached this point in their season. “No matter who we play [I think] we always go into it with a level head and play the best and smartest way we can.”

The Bulldogs’ record is 20-3 on the season and 11-3 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. On Saturday the team will travel to Hastings for their last regular season road game against the Mustangs.
