Concordia’s volleyball team defeated the Doane University Tigers 3-0 in Crete Wednesday night. Concordia bounced back from a tough loss to Midland last week to sweep their Great Plains Athletic Conference rival Doane.

The first set was back-and-forth, but the Bulldogs pulled away at the end to win it 25-18. The second set saw much of the same action, with Concordia prevailing in the late stages 25-22. Concordia was down by five twice during the third set, but showed grit and pulled off an outstanding comeback, winning the third set 25-19.

Sophomore Gabi Nordaker and Senior Camryn Opfer led the way in kills with 11 and 10 respectively. Junior Bree Burtwistle had an amazing 32 assists and sophomore Rebecca Gebhardt led the team in digs with 12.

The volleyball team is now 11-1 overall and 2-1 in GPAC play. They play next as a part of homecoming weekend on Sept. 17 against College of Saint Mary in Friedrich Arena at 4 p.m.
