The Concordia volleyball team beat Hastings College Wednesday afternoon 3-1. This was the first match in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics pool play.

 

The first set saw a tight battle for a majority of the match. Concordia slowly pulled away from the Broncos towards the end of the set and won 25-19. The second set narrowly slipped through the Bulldog’s grasp as Hastings won 25-23. The third set saw a confident performance for the Bulldogs as they beat the Broncos 25-13. Concordia sealed the win with a 25-21 win in the last set.

 

Junior Bree Burtwistle led the Bulldogs with 58 of the team’s 61 assists. Sophomore Gabi Nordaker and junior Camryn Opfer led the team in kills with 16 and 13 respectively. Sophomore Carly Rodaway also reached double digit kills with 11. Opfer and sophomore Rebecca Gebhardt led the team in digs with 24 and 27 respectively.

 

Concordia is now 1-0 in pool play and will go on to face the other Group D team, the Park Pirates, on Dec 2.
