Friday afternoon the Concordia women’s tennis team earned its first GPAC win of the year by defeating Midland University 5-4. The win improves the Bulldog’s record to 4-13 overall and 2-3 in GPAC.

The team of freshman Hailey Lemos and sophomore Annie Horn and the team of freshman Katelinn Wurm and Hannah Boe both earned wins in their doubles matches. Lemos and Horn won 8-4 while Wurm and Boe won 8-6. Sophomores Alison Ebel and Katie Hertz rounded out the doubles teams, but fell 8-4.

In singles play, Concordia split the six matches three apiece. Horn, Wurm and freshman Kayla Smock all won their matches. Horn and Smock won in straight sets. Horn won 6-4 and 6-2 while Smock won 6-1 and 6-1. Wurm won in three sets, 3-6, 6-4 and 10-8. Lemos, Ebel and Boe were the other three competitors for singles matches, but lost. Ebel and Boe both lost in close three-set matches.

Concordia will travel to Kearney for a match with the University of Nebraska-Kearney on Wednesday, April 20. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
