The Concordia softball team faced the Hastings Broncos at home in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon. They struggled offensively as they lost the first game 4-2 and the second game 8-2.

In the first game, the Bulldogs took the lead early as they scored two runs in the second inning. Hastings only had one run going into the last inning and Concordia was looking to finish with a strong defensive effort for the first win. However, in the top of the seventh, Hastings scored three runs on four hits to steal the game away from the Bulldogs. Concordia only recorded three hits in the game.

Sophomore Megan Eurich pitched the entire game for the Bulldogs and allowed seven hits but also recorded six strikeouts.

The second game saw a similar offensive outcome, as Concordia scored their only two runs in the third inning, making it a tied-ball game until the fifth. Hastings again just outlasted the Bulldogs and scored another four runs in the seventh inning. Concordia recorded four hits in the back end of the doubleheader.

Junior Jerzi Rowe was the starting pitcher for the Bulldogs and allowed four runs on seven hits, with three strikeouts as well. Junior Brooke Townsend and freshman Jesse Bestenlehner came in for relief in the sixth and seventh innings. Townsend allowed four runs on five hits and recorded two strikeouts. Bestenlehner came in and recorded one strikeout to close out the game.

The Bulldogs are now 12-17 overall and 1-5 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. They will look to stop a five-game losing streak when they face Midland University on April 7 for another GPAC matchup at Plum Creek Ballpark.
