Home Sports Football team eager to begin ringing bell

By Victoria Cameron

Concordia’s football team will play every Saturday of the fall semester.

They are eager for the new season. Many returning members are hardworking core players, so the team is expected to be physical and finish plays.

“Every season brings a fresh start and a fresh opportunity,” Head Football Coach Patrick Daberkow said. “We have as unified of a locker room as I can ever remember having, and I’m excited to see what we can do when we’re all pulling the same direction.”

The players’ conditioning test confirmed the team’s opinions: they are ready. They are coming into their season in-shape.

“The work we have put in this summer, and recently in fall camp, is going to lead us to have a great year,” senior linebacker Riley Bilstein said.

The team hopes Concordia will cheer them on and be the loudest fans. They are proud of their efforts and each other, and confident that Concordia will not be disappointed

“I have never been a part of a team that loves each other and the game of football more,” Bilstein said.

They open their season with a home game Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. against Concordia’s rival, Doane University.
