Home Sports Summer work prepares the way for men’s soccer

By Victoria Cameron

Concordia’s men’s soccer team is ready to open their season Aug. 24 after having the summer off.

Many players went home for the summer, but all continued looking for ways to improve themselves. Some of them played on summer teams.

“We had about 7 guys play for the Lincoln Bugeaters (a semi pro team),” Head Men’s Soccer Coach Jason Weides said.

Men’s soccer expects to compete for a conference title. They hope students will support both the experienced players and their new teammates.

“The great news is that all students get into our home games as well as away conference games for free,” Weides said. “We would love to play in front of a large crowd this year so hopefully the student body will make it to our games and cheer us on.”

The first home game of the season is Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. against York College.

“We certainly strive to put forth an exciting product that is fun to support for both the novice fan and the soccer hooligan,” Weides said. “Also students can follow us on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) @CUNEMSOC.”
