Students braved the cold on Saturday night to enter an indoor sports tournament in the Cattle Conference Room hosted by a group of Resident Assistants and Intramurals staff.
The event had students from all across campus come in groups of two to play several sports, including ping pong, cornhole, spike ball and pickleball.
Senior Caleb Babisak, co-student coordinator for Intramurals and one of the event’s organizers, said that the Intramurals leaders met with the RAs to put the event together.
“We had SLO [Student Life Office] send out a form for people to sign up and post [it] on the Padlet,” Babisak said. “It was pretty low-key, just something for people to do.”
Participants wasted no time warming up, grouping up to play friendly games before the tournament began. Others played games of catch or some of the board games set up at nearby tables as they waited for their team’s name to be called. For a couple of hours, bracket play continued until winners were named.
Students said that they enjoyed getting to play with their friends and had a good time at the event.
“It was fun. I participated in Pickleball and Cornhole with some friends,” said freshman Elizabeth Wysocki. “It was good, friendly competition and a great way to meet new people.”
