The seventh-ranked Concordia women’s basketball team took on the ninth-ranked Morningside Mustangs in Sioux City, Iowa on the night of Dec. 7 and won 80-52.

Freshman Philomena Lammers had a 15 point, eight rebound outing which spurred the Bulldogs to the 28 point victory. Junior guard and NAIA Player of the Week Mary Janovich also chipped in a game high of 19 points in 27 minutes.

The Bulldogs, coming into the game, were 11-1 overall and 6-0 in GPAC play. The Mustangs came into the game  with a 7-4 overall record and a 2-2 conference record.

Mustangs guard Lexi Ackerman led the way for the Mustangs with 18 points and 13 rebounds, but it was not enough to stop the Bulldog defense. Concordia forced 32 turnovers from the Mustangs.

The battle was fought within the 3-point arc as the Bulldogs shot just 24% from beyond the 3-point line and the Mustangs only 9%. The Bulldogs were hot from the free throw line, converting on 20 of their 22 attempts.

The Bulldogs have a few days downtime before they continue conference play as they take on Northwestern College on Saturday, Dec. 10 inside Walz Arena. The last contest between the two teams ended up in a Bulldog victory, 88-81. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
