Home Sports Krueger and Ahlers Lead Concordia Women’s Golf to Third Place Finish

by Jacy Johnston

The Concordia women’s golf team finished out the two-day tournament on Sunday, April 24 with a tie for third place out of eight teams.

Junior Kayla Krueger led the team on day two, shooting an 81 to tie for 14th place with junior teammate Amy Ahlers. Both shot a combined 172 throughout the tournament.

“Kayla played great yesterday for most of the day. She was in great position to shoot in the 70s, but the last couple holes slipped away from her,” said coach Brett Muller. “I am proud of the way she played.”

Sophomore Ashlen Pospisil turned in a 181 on the weekend for 21st place. Sophomore Brenna Gnuse earned 26th place with a 184.

“Overall as a team, I thought we had a good mindset. We need to continue improving on staying away from big numbers,” Muller said.

The team looks to move forward on April 28 at the Doane College-Kaitlyn Erickson Invite held in Lincoln.
