Home Sports Men’s Basketball Gets Big Win Over Midland

Wyatt Kube

The Bulldogs hosted Midland on Nov. 17 and came away with an 80-63 win over the Warriors. This win for the Bulldogs came after a loss to Briar Cliff over the weekend where the offense only scored 48 points.

The first points of the game went to the Bulldogs and after that, they never looked back.  It was 40 to 27 in favor of the Bulldogs at halftime. The Bulldogs were able to get out to a 20 point lead with four minutes left to go in the game.

Junior Gage Smith led the way for the Bulldogs as he recorded 24 points, six rebounds, and three assists in his best game of the season so far.  Fellow junior Justin Wiersema was right behind Smith recording 18 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

While Smith and Wiersema were the stars of the game, junior Carter Kent flew under the radar as he was able to score 16 points of his own and led the Bulldogs in rebounding with nine.

The great play from the Bulldogs upperclassmen was the deciding factor in this blowout win over the Warriors.

This win puts the Bulldogs at 6-1 (1-1 GPAC) and they look to continue their winning ways as they travel to Sioux Center, Iowa to play Dordt University on Nov. 20 with tip-off starting at 5:45 p.m.
