The Concordia men’s basketball team earned an upset 92-87 road win against Morningside in the Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament semifinals.

The bulldogs carried a 47-40 lead into halftime after converting 17 field goals and limiting turnovers while establishing early tempo and capitalizing on scoring opportunities on both ends of the court.

Morningside did respond in the second half by increasing its defensive pressure on the Bulldogs’ scoring opportunities by outscoring them 47-45. However, the Bulldogs were able to overcome Morningside’s comeback attempt with crucial, timely baskets.

As a team, Concordia shot 54.2 percent from the floor and connected on 10 three-pointers. The Bulldogs also capitalized at the free-throw line, making 18-25 attempts, including some shots to close out the game.

Junior Brooks Kissinger delivered a standout performance, pouring in a game-high 33 points on 11-19 shooting while adding eight rebounds and five assists. Sophomore Dane Jacobsen followed with 23 points on 8-12 shooting, including three three-pointers. Senior Zac Kulus added 19 points and provided defensive support with two steals.

With the win, the Bulldogs advanced to the GPAC championship game. They will be on the road to face Northwestern College on Tuesday, March 3.
