The Concordia men’s soccer team was able to win 7-0 against Presentation College (South Dakota) on Saturday, Oct. 6, in a match largely dominated by the offense. The victory marks the team’s first shutout of the season.

The Bulldogs started off quickly, with freshman Konrad Sinu scoring their first goal after only 41 seconds of play. They continued threatening on the offensive side, getting four more shots on the goal before scoring again in the 16th minute. Their next, and last, goal in the half came about three minutes later in the 19th minute from junior Roger de la Villa. They finished the first half with 13 shots on the goal to the Saints’ one shot, a number that would stick throughout the game.

The Bulldogs continued to dominate in the second half with two goals in the first five minutes of the half. Not too long after in the 55th minute, the Bulldogs scored again, after which they put in their substitutes. Sixteen players were brought in off the bench, and five of the game’s seven goals were made by reserves.

Goals in the second half came from juniors David Carrasco, Miguel Munoz, and Carlos Ferrer; freshman Daniel Campbell; and sophomore Ryan LeTourneau.

Presentation was able to control the ball a bit more in the second half, despite not getting any more shots on the goal. They kept the ball on their scoring side much more than they did in the first half, but it wasn’t enough to get through Concordia’s defense.

The Bulldogs are now 8-1-3 and will go on to play at Doane on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
