Home Sports Men’s Soccer Loses Close Game to Briar Cliff

Concordia men’s soccer lost 1-0 on Wednesday after Briar Cliff scored the lone goal right after halftime in the 47 minute.  

The Bulldogs fired off 10 shots, four of them on goal, while Briar Cliff had 14 shots, seven of them on goal. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was junior Decker Mattimoe with three shots, two being on goal. Junior Daniel Campbell and freshman Martin Herrera each had two shots of their own. 

In the first half Concordia led the game in shots 7-5, but fell short in the second half after Briar Cliff came firing back with nine shots while the Bulldogs only had three. Concordia freshman goalie Gabriel Mendoza had six saves on the night. 

Concordia now moves to a record of 6-7-2, 4-4-1 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. Next up for the Bulldogs is Presentation College at Bulldog stadium on Saturday, Oct. 23, with kickoff at 8 p.m. Concordia only has two games left before the GPAC quarterfinals on Nov. 3.
