Concordia University men’s tennis team competed on Friday afternoon against Kansas Wesleyan in the Walz Fieldhouse and came up just shy of a victory with a final score of 5-4.

The Bulldogs are now 2-6 on the season, and the loss to Kansas Wesleyan snapped their two-game winning streak.

In singles play, sophomore Thomas Greeff, senior Patricio Esquivel and freshman Lucas Zoller all picked up victories. Sophomore Gabe Poling lost in singles play for the first time this season.

In doubles play, the duo of senior Javier Moreno and Poling picked up the lone victory pushing Concordia’s wins to four, but it was not enough to overcome Kansas Wesleyan.

“The team started off slow yesterday, and we didn’t play to our full potential,” Greeff said. “I think we will come out on top our next game. Everybody is motivated to get a win.”

The Bulldogs will return Saturday in the Fieldhouse against Bethel College of Kansas. The first serve is set for noon.
