Home Sports No. 9 Women’s Basketball Pummels Nebraska Wesleyan

The No. 9 Concordia women’s basketball team continued conference play and won 92-37 against the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves on Dec. 2 in Walz Arena. The Bulldogs extended their win streak against the Prairie Wolves to 19.

After a dismal first few minutes of play, the Bulldogs went on an 8-0 run that was capped off with a 3-pointer from junior Aubri Bro to gain a 12-3 lead with 3:41 left in the first quarter. At the end of the first quarter, Concordia led 20-7 and had four 3-pointers.

The Bulldogs gained a 20-point margin, 32-12, after sophomore Sydney Feller knocked down a trey with under five minutes to go in the half.  At the half, Concordia led 45-23 with 21 points coming from behind the 3-point line.

The Bulldogs extended their lead in the third quarter and entered the final quarter of play leading 71-31.

The offensive show continued and the Bulldogs maintained a 74-35 lead with 6:52 to go. The Bulldogs finished the game strong and completed their rout with a 92-37 victory while 12 players finished in the scoring column.

Five Bulldogs put up double-digit scoring, led by Bro with 15 points. Sophomore Mary Janovich and junior Shelby Quinn each tallied 14 points while Feller and sophomore Brenleigh Daum each scored 10.  Concordia shot 50 percent from 3-point range and had eight players score a triple.

I thought we played good team basketball,” coach Drew Olson said. ”We really shared the ball and took good shots.  Hopefully we can keep this rhythm and confidence moving forward.”

The Bulldogs stand at 2-2 in GPAC play and 4-2 overall. Concordia will continue GPAC play against No. 16 Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5.
