Home Sports Offense Wakes Up in Rout of Midland Warriors

The Concordia women’s basketball team beat the Midland University Warriors 101-57 Wednesday evening in Fremont, Neb. The women broke a four-game losing streak and now have a 13-10 overall record and a 10-7 record in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

The Bulldogs took an early lead against the Warriors and maintained it throughout the first quarter. Concordia led by 10 at the end of the first quarter.  Concordia expanded their lead as the game progressed and kept Midland from coming close to taking the lead.

The Bulldogs achieved a 20-point lead in the middle of the second quarter and expanded that lead to 30 points early in the third quarter. By the fourth quarter, Concordia maintained a consistent 40 point lead over Midland.

Freshman Taysha Rushton was the top scorer in Wednesday’s game with 31 points, 17 of which were scored in the first quarter. Rushton also had four rebounds and four assists. Freshman Sadie Powell was the next top scorer with 13 points and had two rebounds. Junior Rylee Pauli scored 11 points and had 12 rebounds and five assists. Pauli led the team in rebounds and freshman Bailey Conrad led the team in assists with seven.

The Bulldog women play again on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. at Friedrich Arena against Dordt University.
