Welcome to the 2019-20 academic year, the 126th academic year in the  history of Concordia University, Nebraska.

Our academic year theme is from Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV) : “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

As the year begins, I pray that you, throughout the year, will know and experience the amazing truth of this passage from God’s word: God’s love for you NEVER ceases!

God loves you, me and    every person He has created. On days where everything is going well, and you are on top of the world, remember that God loves you. On days when it seems your life is in the pits, remember that God loves you. Always and forever, His love for you NEVER ends.

This is a year of transition for me. After 28 years at Concordia and 15 as her president, I am completing my final semester—not everyone gets to be on the “28 year plan” before leaving to serve as the President of Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota.

It has been an absolute joy for me to serve with our outstanding faculty and staff and among our amazing students. I will miss the opportunity to serve Bulldog Nation, but you will always be in my heart.

I am excited to have you on campus and know, with God’s blessings, this will be a fantastic year.

Together we will:

– Dedicate the Dunklau  Center for Science, Math and Business on November 15

– Celebrate the 125th birthday of Concordia University, Nebraska on           November 18

– Welcome our first class of Luke Scholars

– Celebrate the official launch of our agricultural science program

– Be blessed as we live out our Promises of a Lutheran Education — community, inquiry, purpose and wisdom.

As the new academic year begins, seize every opportunity to participate in the Concordia community with its many and varied members!

Enjoy one another, the events, activities, games, matches, worship experiences, devotions, concerts, classes and meals planned throughout the year.

Allow God’s steadfast love and mercy for you to be new and fresh every morning as we learn, serve and lead here at Concordia, in God’s church and throughout His world.

I am thrilled you are here and look forward to the semester ahead.

Brian L. Friedrich
