The Concordia track and field team traveled to Kearney for the University Nebraska Kearney-Hastings Central Nebraska Challenge.

The team had five first place finishes, eight second place finishes and six third place finishes. The team also had five athletes qualify for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Outdoor National Championships at the meet.

Starting with the running events, sophomore Jenna Esch won second in the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 57.08. In the women’s 400-meter hurdles, fellow sophomore Jordan Koepke won first with a time of 1:02.71.

Junior Rylee Haecker won second in the women’s 1500-meter run with a time of 4:43.00. Freshman Keegan Beisel won third in the women’s 5k with a time of 18:37.15.

Freshman Adrianna Rodencal won first in the women’s 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.40. Rodencal, alongside fellow freshman Kayla Kirchner, sophomore Emily Loeske and junior Kellie Rhodes, won third in the women’s 4×100-meter relay with a total time of 48.22.

Sophomore Kaia Richmond won third in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:27.87. Junior Lauren Dawson won first in the women’s 5,000-meter race walk with a time of 29:45.12. Dawson’s time smashed the previous school record of 32:11.29 held by Rachel Kettner.

Moving on to the field events, sophomore Hannah Newton won second in the women’s high jump with a score of 1.65 meters. Freshman Josi Noble won third in the women’s triple jump with a score of 10.84 meters.

Junior Josie Puelz won first in the women’s pole vault with a score of 3.70 meters. Junior Zach Zohner won second in the men’s pole vault with a score of 5.01 meters.

Junior Abigail Gerber won second in the invitational women’s shot put with a throw of 13.53 meters. Fellow junior Kamryn Pokorney won third in the regular women’s shot put with a throw of 12.63 meters. Sophomore Conor Asche won third in the men’s shot put with a throw of 14.14 meters.

Junior Emma Lloyd won second in the women’s discus with a throw of 41.19 meters. Freshman Carson Fehlhafer won second in the men’s discus with a throw of 46.91 meters. In the women’s javelin, sophomore Gretchen Stottlemyre won second with a throw of 35.69 meters. Freshman Matthew Boyer won 1st in the men’s javelin with a throw of 53.57 meters.

The team next competes at the Central College Invite held in Pella, Iowa on April 7 with events scheduled to start at noon.
