Concordia’s soccer teams each picked up a win on the road Tuesday against Graceland University and York College. The men traveled to York and defeated the Panthers of York College 2-0. The women defeated the Graceland Yellowjackets 5-2 in Lamoni, Iowa.

Junior Aliyah Aldama scored in the fourth minute of the women’s game and was followed by a goal in the 15th minute by freshmen Alena Ruiz, giving Concordia an early two-goal lead. Freshman Kierstynn Garner helped out, scoring her first and second goals as a Bulldog in the 44th and 86th minutes of the contest, one of which ended up being the winning goal. The women’s team only allowed Graceland five shots, compared to Concordia’s 30 shots on goal.

The men’s team got an early goal from senior Dominic Abdel-Ahad in the third minute. After halftime Concordia struck early yet again with a goal from sophomore Carter Hinman. The two goals were enough to defeat the Panthers thanks to a defense that only allowed York College two shots on goal.

After their win, the women’s team is now 3-0 to start the year, while the men’s team is 3-1. The women’s team will be on the road again on Saturday facing off against Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan. The men’s team will defend the home turf against Bellevue University this Saturday.
