On Saturday afternoon, the Concordia women’s basketball team played Briar Cliff in the Great Plains Athletic Conference semifinal round. The Bulldogs lost to the Briar Cliff Chargers 66-57.

The Chargers came out of the gate hot, leading at the end of the first 18-5. The Bulldogs got going on offense in the second quarter, but still needed answers for the Briar Cliff offense as they went into the half down 35-24. The second half saw Concordia get within two, but the Chargers never let go of the lead.

The Bulldogs could not get a consistent rhythm on offense throughout the game, shooting only 31.7 percent from the field. Concordia had four double-digit scorers, and sophomore Abby Krieser led those four with 12 points. Sophomores Sadie Powell and Kendall Brigham each added 11 points. Sophomore Abby Heemstra also added 10 points and seven rebounds of her own.

Concordia now will wait for the national selection tournament on March 2 to see if their name gets called to compete. They finished this season 19-11 overall and 14-8 in the GPAC.
