The Concordia University cross country team had runners finish in the top 10 at the competitive, multi-division Briar Cliff Invite on Oct. 4.
Sophomore Keeli Green has led the charge for the women’s team all season long, and this meet was no exception. Green bested all other National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics runners on her way to ninth place, only beaten out by NCAA Division I athletes. Green’s time was 22:00.31 for the 5k race.
Junior Trey Robertson also placed ninth in the men’s 8k. Robertson was edged out by Great Plains Athletic Conference foe Caleb Tofteland by four seconds, but still produced a 25:50.34 while beating all other NAIA competition.
The women placed sixth out of seven teams. Sophomore Annaka Schlachter was Concordia’s second finisher and came in 36th, sophomore Alison Stepanek placed 37th, freshman Ashley Robertson was 43rd, and freshman Rachel Harris rounded out the scorers in 49th.
The men’s team fared well in the team results as they came in fourth out of nine teams. The Bulldogs were beaten by the Division I University of South Dakota and Creighton, and NAIA No. 25 Dordt defeated the Bulldogs by just seven points.
Coming in after Robertson were junior Aidan Limback in 21st, freshman Abram Chance in 25th, freshman Keith Siek in 37th, and junior Justin Sherman in 38th.
The Bulldogs will get another shot at taking down Dordt next week when they travel to Sioux Center on Oct. 11 for the Dordt University Holiday Inn Express Classic.
