A strong defensive effort fueled Concordia women’s basketball to an 84–62 victory over Morningside on Saturday.

Concordia led 37–28 at halftime after holding Morningside to 28.6 percent shooting in the first half. The Bulldogs maintained control early, but the game shifted decisively in the third quarter when Concordia outscored the Mustangs 33–12.

Junior Sammy Leu led Concordia with 18 points, shooting 6-9 from the field and 4-6 from three-point range. Junior Bree Bunting added 14 points and recorded seven steals, while Freshman Ayla Roth contributed 13 points and five rebounds. Senior Kristin Vieselmeyer finished with 11 points and three blocks, helping anchor Concordia’s interior defense.

As a team, Concordia shot 44.2 percent from the field and forced 30 turnovers, converting those opportunities into transition scoring. The Bulldogs recorded 26 steals and finished with 24 assists on 34 made field goals.

With the win, the Bulldogs move to 19-5 overall and 14-4 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. They will look to keep this momentum going when they go on the road to play against Briar Cliff on Saturday, Feb.14.
