Home Sports Bulldog Wrestling Gets Win at Midland

Erik Cumley

Concordia’s wrestling team defeated Midland University 32-18 on Thursday by winning six of their 10 matches.

The Bulldogs have been making improvements since the first dual against Hastings, as they lost that dual 29-17. They moved to an overall record of 2-2 overall and in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

“I think we are making improvements one step at a time, everyone who got a match tonight improved on something they needed to,” Coach Myron Bradbury said. “I’m excited to see that the work is paying off.”

Junior Anthony Perez and Freshman TJ Huber came up with big wins for Concordia. Perez dominated his match earning a Tech Fall in the second period. By the end of the first period, Perez was already up 10-1. Huber also dominated his match, winning 9-3. By the end of the second period, the score was 8-2.

Sophomore Jacob Telles missed the action tonight due to sickness, which left Jack Hedke to move up in weight classes. Bradbury has not decided whether to keep Hedke at Heavyweight or not, tonight helped on that decision.

“I was very proud of Jack. I’m thinking more and more that we may move him up and tonight kinda solidified that for us.” Bradbury said.

The Bulldogs will host the Concordia Bulldog Duals on Dec. 18. Duals will begin at 10 am inside Friedrich Arena.
