The Bulldogs squared off against Morningside on Jan. 16 in a thriller of a game that led to a final score of 66-64 and a loss for CUNE.

The Bulldogs fell early in the first quarter, but were able to fight back to bring the score within one by the end of the first quarter.  Concordia would then start the second quarter leading by three, but after that it was a back and forth contest all the way till the end of the half.  The Bulldogs’ largest lead of the game would come in the fourth quarter when they led by eight with 3:59 left to go in the game.  It proved not to be enough as the Mustangs climbed their way back and were able to pull out the win over Concordia.

Concordia would not go down without a fight, however, as junior Taylor Cockerill led the Bulldogs with 17 points and grabbed 7 rebounds as well.  She was not the only Bulldog to contribute to the scoreboard as sophomore Kayla Luebbe and junior Chloe Schumacher both came off the bench to provide a spark when needed.  Luebbe finished with 13 points and 8 rebounds while Schumacher finished with 11 points and 4 rebounds.

The Bulldogs are now 12-7 and 11-5 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.  Despite the loss, the Bulldogs played a tough game and will look to bounce back when they play Briar Cliff on Jan. 23 at Friedrich Arena with tip off starting at 2 p.m.
