The Bulldogs suffered a tough loss against Morningside on Jan. 16, resulting in a final score of 95-77.

The Mustangs came into this game ranked first in the Great Plains Athletic Conference while the Bulldogs were sitting at third.  Concordia never had the lead in the game.  Their closest margin was when they tied it at three in the first minute of play and then it was all Morningside after that.

Despite a 19 point outing by junior Gage Smith, it still wasn’t enough for Concordia to keep it close in this game.  Smith was the Bulldogs’ leading scorer and also led the team with 8 rebounds as well, but Smith wasn’t the only Bulldog with double digit points.  Junior Justin Wiersema finished with 18 points, senior Ryan Holt finished with 11 points, and senior Grant Wragge finished with 10 points coming off the bench.

With all that scoring from the four Bulldog players, Concordia was no match for Morningside’s Trey Brown as he had his way inside grabbing 10 rebounds and scoring 17 points for the Mustangs.  The Mustangs finished with six different players scoring double digit points showing the conference that they deserve that #1 spot in GPAC.

The Bulldogs drop a 12 home game winning streak with this loss.  Concordia will look to regroup in their next home game against Briar Cliff on Jan. 23 at 4 p.m. inside Friedrich Arena.
