Home Sports Concordia Men’s Soccer Wins Regular Season Finale

Saturday night, the Concordia men’s soccer team closed out its regular season with a 10-1 rout of Mount Marty College in Seward.

The win gives the Bulldogs a 9-6-2 overall record and 4-4-2 record in GPAC. With the win, the Bulldogs clinched a berth in the GPAC tournament which will start on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Concordia’s slew of goals begin in the fourth minute when sophomore Toby Down found the back of the net.

Down collected two more goals within the next 14 minutes of action to give himself a hat trick and the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead.

In the 25th minute, freshman Tyler Jensen extended the lead to 4-0. Shortly after, junior Dan Stephens got in on the scoring action to make it 5-0.

Concordia’s freshman Aries Fung chipped in a goal just before half, extending the Bulldogs’ lead to 6-0.

In the second half, the Bulldogs continued the scoring with four more goals.

Sophomore Micah Lehenbauer scored a pair of goals and senior Nathan Northcutt scored one goal. Stephens chipped in his second goal of the game in the 71st minute.

Concordia will look to carry the momentum from tonight’s game into postseason play as the Bulldogs have earned the sixth seed for the GPAC tournament. The Bulldogs will travel to Orange City, Iowa, to play third-seeded Northwestern College at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
