Home Sports Concordia Softball Goes 2-1 to Open Season

by Garrett Suchanek

The Concordia softball team opened its season in Fort Worth, Texas, with a triple-header. The Bulldogs fell in the opening game against No. 6 Oklahoma City, but rebounded with back-to-back wins over Bethel College and Baker University.

Concordia opened the season against the same team that knocked the Bulldogs out of the National Tournament last year. Oklahoma City was able to hold off the Bulldogs for a 4-2 win.

After falling in the first game, the Bulldogs returned with a vengeance. Concordia took care of Bethel College with a final score of 8-1. The Bulldogs opened the game up with a four-run fourth inning.

In the final game of the day, the Bulldogs tamed the Baker University Wildcats and won 14-3. Another successful fourth inning helped propel the Bulldogs over the Wildcats. Concordia scored nine runs in the inning.

Concordia will play its final games in Fort Worth on Feb. 13 when the Bulldogs take on Tabor College at 9 a.m. and William Penn University at 11 a.m.
