The Concordia weightlifting team had an impressive performance across the board this weekend at the Virus Weightlifting Finals in Daytona Beach, Florida. The men and women placed high overall with several top 10 finishes and crowned a national champion.

The most impressive performance on the men’s side came from junior Kaiden Mima, who placed first in the men’s 60kg weight class of the junior division. In the clean, he made a 106kg attempt and a 133kg on his third try for the clean and jerk for a total of 513lbs.

On the women’s side, junior Abigail Nelson placed third in the women’s junior division and 13th in the 53kg weight class. Nelson succeeded in a 64kg snatch and 78kg clean and jerk for a total of 306 lbs.

Sophomore Nina Pollack did well too in the 77kg weight class with a top seven finish in the junior women’s division. Pollack lifted 324 lbs.

Sophomore Marcus Sweet and junior Enzo Mancini also put up some impressive numbers for the Bulldogs, with a third-place finish and a second-place finish, respectively, in the men’s junior division.

Sweet lifted a total of 562 lbs in the 79kg weight class between his two best attempts, and Mancini lifted a total of 659 lbs from his two.

Juniors Michael Davidge and Nolan Graupmann had a good competition, too, with both placing fourth in their respective weight classes.

The weightlifting team has concluded its 2025 season and will be back in action on Feb. 28 for the Concordia Weightlifting Open.
