The Concordia women’s basketball team came up just short in a hard-fought matchup against Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday in Seward, falling 59–56. The Bulldogs battled back late but couldn’t overcome the Tigers’ early lead, 25–20 at halftime.

Concordia stayed close, matching Dakota Wesleyan point-for-point in the fourth quarter, but a few missed shots down the stretch left the Bulldogs on the losing end. The team shot 27.7 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from three, struggling to find consistent offense against a tough Tigers defense.

Sophomore guard Savannah Butterfield scored 10 points with two assists and two steals to keep the Bulldogs within striking distance, while junior forward Raelyn Kelty added eight points and eight rebounds.

Junior guard Sammy Leu contributed eight points and two steals, and senior forward Kristin Vieselmeyer and junior guard Bree Bunting chipped in seven points each, with Bunting hitting a key three-pointer.

With the loss, Concordia moves to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference, ending their undefeated streak. The Bulldogs will look to bounce back when they travel to face Midland University on Wednesday, December 10.
