As the regular season winds down, every win is crucial, and the Concordia women’s soccer team picked up a much needed 3-2 win at home after trailing early against College of Saint Mary on Wednesday evening.

The Flames struck first when Jenna Herse netted her fifth goal of the season in the ninth minute to give Saint Mary a 1-0 lead.

Concordia then evened the game with a goal from freshman Ashley Martin in the 38th minute.

It didn’t take long for the Bulldogs to break the tie as sophomore Jessica Skerston put away a deflected ball in the 39th minute to give Concordia a 2-1 advantage.

Coming out of halftime, the Bulldogs continued to be aggressive.

Just under four minutes into the second half, junior Jordan McCoy found the back of the net to extend Concordia’s lead to 3-1.

However, Saint Mary didn’t fold under the pressure of the Bulldogs.

At the 58:25 mark, the Flames cut their deficit to 3-2 after Lexi Bolamparti struck the back of the net.

After Bolamparti’s goal, both teams were held in check as the Bulldogs held on for the 3-2 victory.

The win against the Flames marks a new record for the Bulldogs seniors as they now become the winningest class in Concordia history with a record of 41-26-8.

The win improved the Bulldogs to 11-5-1 overall and 5-4-1 in GPAC for the season.

The Bulldogs will look to add to the record when they host Mount Marty (1-15, 0-10) for the regular season finale at 5:30 p.m. on Halloween night.
