Home Sports No. 16 Concordia Volleyball Falls to No. 8 Dordt

by Garrett Suchanek

The No. 16 Concordia volleyball team couldn’t overcome No. 8 Dordt College as the Bulldogs lost at home on Halloween in straight sets 25-23, 25-17 and 25-23 and fell to 23-7 overall and 11-4 in GPAC.

Concordia was in a slugfest all night with the Defenders, but Dordt always had an answer to whatever the Bulldogs threw at them.

The Bulldogs held their own ground in two of the three sets, but the Defenders finished the sets stronger.

In the second set, Dordt took command of the match and jumped out to a quick lead. When the Bulldogs made their run, the Defenders found another gear and rallied off six of the next eight points to win the set.

Despite the loss, senior Claire White pounded out four kills to reach a milestone of 1,000 kills in her career.

Junior Tiegen Skains led Concordia with 12 kills on the night. Sophomore Annie Friesen and junior Paige Getz chipped in 8 and 7 kills respectively.

The Bulldogs will close out their regular season on the road against Nebraska Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 4.
