Hedrick followed it up in the second round with a reversal to earn two more points. Shortly after, he pinned McDermott to win the match.

After another open weight class, junior Darrin Miller (Concordia) wrestled against freshman Tyson Albright (Benedictine). There was a takedown by Albright and a reversal by Miller in the first round, leaving the score tied at two. An escape by Albright left Miller at a 3-2 deficit going into the third. After an exciting third round, it was tied at six points each. Miller then won in overtime after a takedown early in the round.

In the next weight class, sophomore Tyler Jorgensen (Concordia) wrestled against sophomore James Schafer (Benedictine). It was not a long match, as Jorgensen got two takedowns and pinned Schafer within the first minute.
