Walz arena was roaring on Friday night when the Concordia Bulldogs’ men’s basketball team stomped the Concordia Chicago Cougars 104-82. The Bulldogs wanted to ensure there was no question that they belong in the CIT championship title game.

After struggling with foul trouble in the game against Hastings earlier in the week, senior Chandler Folkerts came back and scored 20 points against CUC shooting eight for 12 in the paint.

Many Bulldogs contributed with a significant amount of points as well. Among these include freshman Tanner Shuck with 15 points. Shuck has been a key member to this 2017 team as a starting freshman.

Senior Eli Ziegler also added to the win with 14 points and six assists, and senior Chris Johnstone chipped in with 13 points. There was also lots of help coming from the bench. Junior Kyle Pierce and freshman Clay Reimers added eight points apiece. Senior Justin Damme and freshman Jake Hornick each scored seven points. The Bulldogs were offensively dominant shooting 60 percent against the Cougars’ 51.7 percent.

The Bulldogs will play today for a chance to defend the CIT tournament championship trophy. Concordia University, Nebraska faces Concordia University Ann Arbor at 7 p.m. in Walz arena.
