Home Sports Dance and Cheer Take Down Doane

The Concordia Nebraska dance and cheer teams took down Doane this weekend in a home dual.  Both dance and cheer performed outstanding in their win.

The dance team, led by captains junior Haleigh Fitzsimmons and senior Michelle Porath, finished with a score of 73 beating the Tigers by 7.9 points as Doane finished with a score of 65.1.

Concordia also honored senior Michelle Porath for senior night at halftime of the men’s basketball game.  She will finish her career as a scholar athlete with a GPA of 4.0 and as a co-captain of the dance team.

“I can’t believe it has gone by this fast.” Michelle Porath said, “I’ll cherish these memories forever”

The Bulldog dance team finished the season 4-1 in duals and placed second in the Friends Day of Duals.  They also took home second place in the Concordia Invite finishing this season miles ahead of last season.  

The cheer team had their competition in the PE Center Gym here at Concordia and was able to take advantage of the home environment.  Led by coach Mandy Maser, the cheer team finished with a score of 69.6 handling business against Doane who finished with a score of 66.3.

The cheer team finished the season 3-1 in duals and placed third in the Friends Day of Duals.  They also finished second in the Concordia Invite and are looking to continue their success in the GPAC championships.

Next up for both dance and cheer will be the GPAC championships at Doane University on Feb. 26.  Times will be announced on a later date.  Fans are allowed and are required to wear masks.
