Home Sports Geiger Blasts Grand Slam in Split Doubleheader with Northwestern College

Concordia’s baseball team split a doubleheader with Northwestern College with scores of 1-15 and 12-6 on Saturday, April 16. In the first game, the Bulldogs were not able to get much going offensively and totaled only four hits. Concordia’s sole run came in the sixth inning when senior Taylor Dudley scored on a wild pitch.

In game two, the offense came alive as the Bulldogs got 10 hits and scored 12 runs.

The fourth inning was the big inning for the Bulldogs they scored six runs on three hits. Junior Jacob Adams and sophomore Drew Woods both knocked in RBIs. Sophomore Kaleb Geiger came to the plate with the bases loaded and hit a grand slam, cashing in four more runs for the Bulldogs.

Senior Alex Alstott also contributed to the Bulldogs’ offense and went 2 for 4 with three RBIs in the second game.

Sophomore Cole Jackson, who is now 3-3 on the season, got the win on the mound for game two. Jackson’s relief was junior Josh Prater, and he only allowed one hit in four innings pitched.

The Bulldogs are now 21-18 overall and 7-3 in GPAC play and will play a doubleheader on Sunday, April 17 against Morningside College.
