Home Sports Concordia Baseball Splits at Morningside

by Matthew Goedeken

Concordia’s baseball team traveled to Morningside College Sunday, April 17 for a doubleheader in GPAC play and split, winning the first game 8-4 and losing 2-12 in the second.

Junior Christian Montero, who hit at the DH spot, and junior Casey Berg both went 2 for 3 in the first game and combined for three RBIs. Concordia’s biggest innings were the third inning and the seventh inning. In those two innings, the Bulldogs put up a combined six runs and seven hits.

Freshman Josue Melchor came in for relief in the sixth inning and struck two batters out.

In the second game, hits were hard to come by. The Bulldogs scored two runs on five hits, with both runs coming in the first inning. One run was from a senior Alex Alstott home run, and the other was off of a single by Berg to center field. After the first inning, the Bulldogs never really got it going.

The Bulldogs, now 22-19 overall, will be back in action Tuesday, April 20 for a single nine-inning game at York College.
