Home Sports Midland Subdues Bulldog Volleyball in 3-1 Home Match

by Chris Johnstone

The Concordia volleyball team faced the No. 1 ranked Midland University Warriors at home on Wednesday, Oct. 12, and went down three sets to one (16-25, 25-15, 20-25, 20-25).

Senior outside hitter Paige Getz led the Bulldog charge with 12 kills, but it wasn’t enough to slow down the Warriors.

One of the most notable presences on the Midland team was sophomore hitter Priscilla O’Dowd, who forced down 19 kills against the Bulldogs.

“Midland was definitely what we expected,” Getz said. “We know that they play very disciplined but when we can control our side and play smart we are right there with them. The second set showed what we are capable of, it is just trying to sustain that for the whole match.”

The Bulldogs came into the match were 11-14 overall and 3-6 in conference play. The Warriors came into the game with a 19-1 overall record and a 9-1 record throughout conference play.

The Bulldogs will play another ranked opponent on Saturday, Oct. 15 when they take on No. 11 Dordt College on the Defenders’ home floor in Sioux City, Iowa at 5 p.m. Dordt is currently 14-5 overall and 7-2 in the GPAC.
