Concordia stands at 15-5 overall and 10-5 in GPAC after dropping a contest 60-81 to the Mount Marty Lancers in South Dakota on Jan. 23.

Concordia fell behind early in the contest and trailed by as much as 10 points in the first quarter. Junior Aubri Bro helped cut the deficit with two 3-pointers. At the end of the first quarter, Concordia trailed 18-17.

The Bulldogs gained their first lead of the game in the second quarter 24-23 from more sharp outside shooting, this time from sophomore Sydney Feller. Mount Marty quickly stepped up their offense, and after an 11-1 run led the Bulldogs 35-25. The Lancers continued their offensive explosion and ended the half with a 46-34 lead over Concordia after posting 28 points in the second quarter.

The Bulldogs tightened up their defense in the third quarter and held the Lancers to a mere 13 points. With three minutes left in the third, Concordia cut the deficit to 55-50. Mount Marty finished the quarter with a 4-0 run and took a 59-50 lead to the fourth quarter.

Concordia’s defense was unable to stand up to the Lancers’ continued offensive romp through the fourth quarter. The Lancers completed an 81-60 win with four players in double figures.

Freshman Quinn Wragge was the only Bulldog in double figures on the night and finished with 16 points. The Bulldogs shot 8-for-24 from the 3-point arc, while the Lancers connected on 14-for-27 behind the arc.

The Concordia women will continue their season in Walz Arena at 6 p.m. on Jan. 27 against GPAC conference foe Doane College. To finish off the month of January, the Bulldogs will travel to the Concordia Invitational Tournament held in Chicago.
