Saturday afternoon the No. 4 Concordia Bulldogs had trouble keeping pace with No. 1 Morningside as the Mustangs won 77-66. The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in GPAC.

Going into the fourth quarter, the score was tied at 52-52, but that’s when the game turned. For the first 4 minutes and 58 seconds of the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs were held scoreless while the Mustangs tallied 13 points.

For the final five minutes of the game, both teams traded baskets, but Morningside’s lead was never challenged.

Morningside capitalized on Concordia turnovers and cashed in on free throws by making 30 of 41 attempts.

Concordia was led by senior Becky Mueller, who finished with 18 points. Sophomore Mary Janovich and freshman Quinn Wragge also had double figure points with 13 points apiece.

The Bulldogs travel to Crete to take on Doane College at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
