Home Sports Strong Second Half Propels Bulldogs’ Men’s Basketball Past Red Hawks

Tuesday night the (RV) Concordia men’s basketball team laced it up for the first time since Christmas break. The Bulldogs enjoyed a 74-52 victory over Simpson University from a strong second half performance.

The Bulldogs (9-4, 4-4) had their hands full in the first half as the Red Hawks jumped out to a quick lead. Concordia trailed by as many as 11 points before closing the gap and earning a 31-29 lead at the half.

In the second half, Concordia’s defense stepped up and allowed the Bulldogs to extend their two-point halftime lead to a 20-point lead with 7:29 left in the game. The Red Hawks were unable to get closer than 15 points as the Bulldogs strolled to a 74-52 win.

Concordia had a trio of players score double figures. Senior Robby Thomas paced the Bulldogs with 22 points, while juniors Eli Ziegler and Max Wegener poured in 14 and 13 points respectively.

The Bulldogs will face No. 23 California State University-Maritime Academy at 6 p.m. Central Standard Time on Wednesday, Dec. 30.
