Home News Students Win Cash Prizes at SAC’s Game Show Night

by Bethany Schilling

Students gathered in Janzow’s Cattle Conference Room on Friday, Jan. 13 for a chance to win cash prizes during the Student Activities Council’s Game Show Night, an interactive competition that tested their wit and skill with a variety of challenges.

Game Show Night featured a mashup of events similar to those seen on TV shows like Jeopardy, Minute to Win It and Let’s Make A Deal. Students raced against each other to answer trivia about movies, pop culture, video games, school subjects and more in an effort to win $5 to $20 prizes.

Individual students also completed random tasks like stacking cups, sorting M&Ms with one hand and keeping multiple balloons in the air in front of a cheering audience of peers. Those who did not win cash prizes still got a chance to catch the candy thrown into the crowd.

The evening provided a safe and fun way for students to stay active but warm during the winter.

“Trying to do bubble soccer or even bongo ball outside in the middle of January is hard, so this is a nice indoor alternative,” Director of Student Development Rehema Kavugha said.

SAC tries to provide free ways for students to engage with one another and have a good time.

“We want to build a sense of community,” freshman SAC member Makayla Kosberg said. “It’s fun for us and fun for the people who come.”

SAC has several more events coming up this semester, including Floor Wars and Spring Weekend, so keep an eye out for SAC’s blue posters hanging in Janzow and the hall buildings.
