Home Sports Women’s Tennis Team Starts Season Strong with Wins against Central

The Concordia women’s tennis team began their short fall season with a home victory over Central College (Iowa) on Saturday.

The Bulldogs were led by senior Marlene Maier in the 1st Singles spot 6-1 and 6-0. Concordia also had singles victories by seniors Katelinn Wurm (3) and Kayla Smock (5). On the doubles side of competition, sophomore Claudia Miranda Viera and Wurm won 9-8 in the No.2 spot. In addition, the Bulldogs had the No.3 spot victory from Smock and sophomore Allison Marshall.

Concordia is currently coached by graduate assistant Javier Moreno, a 2017 Concordia graduate and tennis team alumnus. The Bulldogs will finish out the fall portion of their season on Sept. 14 and 15 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) individual tournament that will be hosted in Fremont.
