Home Sports Bulldog Track and Field Dominates at Concordia Classic

The Concordia men’s and women’s track and field teams dominated the throwing competitions at the Concordia Classic on Saturday. Bulldog throwers claimed first through third place in shot put in both the men’s and women’s divisions.

On the men’s side from first to third go junior Zach Lurz, sophomore Trey Barnes and senior Jose Rojas, while on the women’s side from first to third was senior Stephanie Coley, junior Kali Robb and freshman Samantha Liermann.

Coley’s first-place finish with a throw of 47’ 7 ¾” was also a new school record, breaking her old school record throw of 47’ 7 ¼”.

Not only were Bulldog throwers successful in shot put, but junior Cody Boellstorff continued to break school records in the weight throw. Boellstorff claimed first place and a new school record with a throw of 65’ 11 ½” in the weight throw.

On the track, senior Kim Wood set a new record. Wood ran the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.03 to break her old school record time of 2:12.25.

Not only were three school records broken at the Concordia Classic, but a new meet record was recorded by junior CJ Muller. Muller ran the 400-meter run in a time of 49.04 seconds to claim first place and set the new meet record.

  • Liz King (weight throw – 53’ 8 ¼”)
  • Philip Kreutzer (weight throw – 55’ 5”)
  • Samantha Liermann (shot put – 46’ 10”)
  • Zach Lurz (shot put – 55’ 11”; weight throw – 60 1 ¼”)
  • Cynthia Mick (pole vault – 11’ 5”)
  • CJ Muller (400 meter run – 49.04)
  • Kali Robb (shot put – 47’ 7 ¼”; weight throw – 60’ 1”)
  • Jose Rojas (shot put – 53’ 11 ¾”; weight throw – 55’ 8 ¼”)
  • AJ Schafer (pole vault – 15’ 5”)
  • Emily Sievert (5,000 meter run – 18:07.90)
  • Lucas Wiechman (heptathlon – 4,918 points)
  • Kim Wood (800 meter run – 2:11.03)

Concordia’s upcoming competitions will be on Feb. 5 and 6 at the Sevigne Husker Invite in Lincoln  and at the Fred Beile Classic on Feb. 6 in Crete.
