The Concordia volleyball team suffered an end to its historic season, a sweep at the hands of Northwestern on Dec. 8 in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics semifinals.

After going up 19-13 in the first set, Northwestern stormed back to take the set 25-23. Northwestern didn’t let up after that, improving each set and winning 25-13 and 25-9.

The Bulldogs struggled all around in the second and third sets, with negative hitting percentages in both. Concordia finished the game hitting .051 compared to Northwestern’s .250.

Senior Ashley Keck finished her career with a solid performance as she put up 13 kills on 46 attacks with five errors. Keck also led the team with nine digs.

The loss is the third of the season at the hands of Great Plains Athletic Conference opponents, Northwestern. Both previous meetings ended 3-1.

Coach Ben Boldt achieved his 182nd career win in the quarterfinal and became the winningest coach in Concordia volleyball history. Every win at nationals has also come during Boldt’s tenure.

The Bulldogs finish the season 28-4 as national semifinalists and GPAC runners-up.
