The Concordia University women’s soccer team suffered an overtime heartbreaker at the hands of Hastings College in the Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament on Nov. 8.

After going down early in the second half, senior defender Hannah Kile notched her first goal of the season off a corner from senior Kierstynn Garner.

The goal was enough to take the game to overtime, but Hastings struck first in the 95th minute and ended the game on the golden-goal.

The Bulldogs led in the shot count, 16-9, and had an additional shot on target, 7-6.

The scoreline is a reverse of what happened exactly a month prior on Oct. 8, as Concordia got the better of Hastings 2-1 with goals coming from Garner and freshman Charli Preister.

In order to automatically qualify for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Soccer tournament, the Bulldogs needed to win the GPAC tournament. Concordia will now need to wait for the qualifiers and pairings to be released on Saturday, Nov. 15, with the hopes of receiving an at-large bid.
