The annual Concordia Invitational Tournament for basketball, wrestling, and cheer/dance, set to take place in January of 2021, has been cancelled for the first time since the 1975-76 school year.

CIT was scheduled to take place on Jan. 29-20, 2021 in Seward. Concordia University Nebraska was the scheduled host for 2021.

The presidents of the competing Concordia institutions, including Wisconsin, Chicago, and Ann-Arbor,  released a joint statement Tuesday to cancel the tournaments, citing the pandemic as the primary concern.

The Concordias from Chicago and Wisconsin, members of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference  in the NCAA DIII, had already been given mandates to postpone all fall semester athletics until after January.

Despite the cancellation, the Bulldogs will be the host team for the event in 2022. Dates and times are expected to be determined before the beginning of next season.

The Great Plains Athletic Conference, as well as the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, has yet to make any further announcements concerning winter sports as a whole for the remainder of the semester.
