Concordia Softball Splits with Mount Marty on Saturday

Despite having a week filled with rainouts and postponements, the Concordia softball team finally took the field in Yankton, South Dakota, on Saturday and opened the two-game series with a 5-3 win, but dropped the second 3-13 .
The team moved 27-14 overall and 8-8 in GPAC.
In game one, Concordia jumped out to a quick two-run lead in the first inning. The Bulldogs added insurance runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings to give Concordia a 5-3 win.
Sophomore Michaela Woodward went five innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits. Junior Kylie Harpst came in as relief for two innings and picked up the save.
Game two was a different story. The Lancer’s bats woke up, and Mount Marty scored all 13 of its runs in three innings: three in the second, three in the fourth and seven in the fifth inning.
Harpst got the start for the Bulldogs and picked up the loss.
Concordia will host Midland University on Monday for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
