Concordia Volleyball Gets Strong Win in First Round of GPAC Playoffs

The Concordia volleyball team defeated the College of Saint Mary Saturday night. They had a dominant performance and won the first round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference Playoffs 3-0.
The first set saw a hot start from the Bulldogs, as they jumped out to a big lead early. The College of Saint Mary Flames bounced back, but Concordia staved off the comeback and won the set 25-18. The second set saw another dominant performance from the Bulldogs, with a 25-16 win. Concordia maintained the energy and momentum and won the third and final set 25-18.
Junior Bree Burtwistle had an outstanding performance with 36 of the team’s 37 assists. Freshman Ashley Keck also had a breakout performance with 12 kills. Sophomore Gabi Nordaker and senior Morgan Nibbe both had solid performances, with nine and eight kills respectively. Junior Camryn Opfer was all over the court, with six kills and a team high 17 digs.
Concordia is now 22-4 overall and 12-4 in the GPAC. The Bulldogs will go on the road for the GPAC semifinal against Midland Nov. 9 in Fremont. Concordia is 0-2 against Midland this year.
